Fraser River Paddle
August 21, 2010
***CANCELLED***
Young and old alike will spend a day paddling or floating in rafts down the Fraser River in the company of environmental experts and explore the most productive salmon habitat found anywhere in the world. A flotilla of canoes, kayaks, and paddle rafts will travel from Agassiz Bridge to Matsqui Trails Regional Park (downriver from Mission). This area is part of the "Heart of the Fraser" because of its key spawning habitat characteristics. Along the way, participants will visit gravel bars, side channels, islands, and riparian forests that make this part of the Fraser so important to fish and wildlife. This program brings the public direct experience with the river eco-system and, at the same time, provides learning opportunities in regards to gravel extraction from environmental experts accompanying the group.
