About the event

Step into the serene beauty of winter with confidence! This supportive full-day program introduces you to the essentials of cold-weather hiking and snowshoeing along the breathtaking trail around Lightning Lake in Manning Park.

Whether you are brand new to winter adventures or looking to improve your cold weather backcountry skills, this hands-on workshop helps equip you with key skills in an encouraging environment.

Join us for this hands-on workshop as we hike around E.C. Manning Park’s Lightning Lake. This gentle 4.5 km loop is ideal for an introduction to winter outdoor adventures. Along the way, you will learn practical skills including BC Adventure Smart’s 3 T’s (Trip Planning, Training, and Taking the Essentials) as well as proper layering, winter hydration tips, and real-world emergency management, including an interactive field scenario. Enjoy complimentary warm drinks while engaging in trail discussions with backcountry aficionados in a supportive group environment. All participants will receive a digital preparation guide prior to event day to help you feel prepared.
